History and Mission
The mission of The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County is to encourage local residents to become philanthropists, provide grants that support a wide variety of charitable organizations and serve as a community leader.
Since its inception in 1995, The CFWC has grown to nearly 200 funds valued at $21 million. The CFWC has also granted over $14 million to local non-profit organizations.
In July 2010, The CFWC made community foundation history by merging with The Pittsburgh Foundation. The merger, which was permanently ratified in 2015, signifies a new era in nonprofit alignment and growth. By harnessing the expertise and resources of The Pittsburgh Foundation, The CFWC is able to have an increased presence across the region offering its donors improved services, its nonprofit partners increased grantmaking opportunities and ultimately the ability to serve Westmoreland County at a greater level.
