2011 Day of Giving Event - Results
PITTSBURGH, Pa., October 12 2011 – The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Day of Giving last week generated funding for local nonprofits at the rate of nearly $75 per second over the 24-hour giving period. The total raised for charitable organizations in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties was $6,448,448

Youth Advisory Council

“We are Greensburg area youth committed to fostering philanthropy in youth, generating new funds for youth programs, providing leadership opportunities for youth and creating positive messages about youth to the community.”

Greensburg Area Youth Advisory Council (YAC) was formed in 1998 as part of The Greensburg Foundation Fund and is dedicated to empowering youth to become philanthropic leaders in their communities. YACsters are able to address the concerns of local youth and provide funding for youth projects in the Greensburg area. It’s also a great way to involve youth in community service. Members, in addition to awarding grants to local youth programs, also advise The Greensburg Foundation Fund on its grants for programs that benefit the area’s youth. This organization consists of students in grades 8 through 12 from various school districts in the Greater Greensburg area.

  • Greensburg Salem School District

YAC’s activities include monthly meetings where the group discusses recent events and upcoming activities’ and occasional community service projects. Members learn how to collaborate their time and talents to the practice of philanthropy and improve the quality of life for the youth in the greater Greensburg area.
